7 Day Exploring Kenya’s Rift Valley Lakes

This specialty overland safari takes you deep into the heart of the Great Rift Valley, a dramatic geological trench that has carved out some of Africa’s most unique aquatic ecosystems. Designed for bird enthusiasts, landscape photographers, and wildlife lovers alike, this itinerary hops through a chain of unique Rift Valley lakes. From freshwater boat rides to soda-lake bird spectacles and steaming volcanic geysers, each stop reveals a entirely new side of Kenya's natural beauty.

Depart Nairobi in the morning and head north, descending down the eastern wall of the Great Rift Valley with a brief pause for panoramic views. Arrive at the freshwater shores of Lake Naivasha in time for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic boat ride past pods of wallowing hippos to Crescent Island Sanctuary for a guided walking safari alongside giraffes, zebras, and waterbucks.
